I’m still in Chicago, flying back to Florida in the morning.
Back home in Florida, the dedication of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center was this morning. A delegation from the Orthodox Christian Fellowship at the University of Florida went to the events. While there, they got to meet Metropolitan JONAH of the Orthodox Church in America, who has been a bold and vocal advocate for OCF in nearly every public speech he’s given. It’s such a delight to hear a hierarch of the Church affirming the important and difficult work that is being done on college campuses.
One of the OCF members was raised in Albania, and +Jonah introduced her personally to Archbishop Anastasios of Albania. This seems to have made her day.
I wish I could have been there. The dedication of the OCMC building marks the very first facility built from the ground up jointly by all Orthodox jurisdictions together in the United States– not only is it an exciting step forward for Orthodox missions, but it’s also a milestone in the path towards Orthodox Christian unity here in the United States. And it’s personally gratifying for me to see the Orthodox Christian Fellowship at the University of Florida participating.
